Pitt Artist Pens

BUY PITT ARTIST PENS HERE

Ink drawings have a very long tradition in many countries. The expressiveness, permanence and the way it can be combined with many colouring techniques have made this an interesting medium for decorative and graphic artists alike.

Faber-Castell has now combined all the advantages of Indian ink in a disposable pen, with none of the disadvantages. There is a choice of the classic colours black, sepia and sanguine, each with three different types of nib – medium 8mm, fine 6mm and superfine 4mm.

For those who like more colourful drawings, there are 48 colours available with a 2mm tapered brush tip.

The brush tip is very durable. The lighter colours are transparent, which makes them suitable for glazing over other colours, while the darker ones are more opaque. These pens are great for mixed media techniques with other Faber-Castell products.

The Lightfastness (resistance to fading) of the inks used in PITT artist pens is unsurpassed. It is marked on each pen by two or three stars.

*** Maximum fade resistance (100+ years) or 7, 8 Blue Wool Scale

** Very good fade resistance (25+ years) or 5,6 Blue Wool Scale

* Good fade resistance (5+ years) or 3,4 Blue Wool Scale

The best quality artist pigments are used for each of the 48 colour inks and 22 carry the highest 3 star rating.

The ink is odourless and dries rapidly on contact with paper. It does not smudge or merge with other colours. The ink does not bleed, so even the finest lines remain well defined.

HINTS AND TIPS ON USE

PITT artist pens with a brush point are available in sets of different colours, carefully chosen for particular applications.

The "Shades of Grey" set consists of three warm and three cool greys.

The "Terra" set contains the classic earth colours.

The "Landscape" set contains the colours needed for typical nature scenes.

The "Basic" set rounds off the range of colours.

The three classic colours - black, sanguine and sepia are available in sets and individually.

Classic techniques, familiar from felt-tip pens, can also be achieved with Pitt artist pens. These have the advantage that the ink fades much less on exposure to light. Our example shows how an area can be made increasingly concentrated by adding progressively darker colours.

If you draw with a Pitt artist pen on damp paper, the ink spreads; the effect can be enhanced with a paintbrush. However, once the ink has dried it is permanent and no longer dissolves in water.
